People let me tell you that FTP service is nothing new and has been around since the invention of the Internet. 99.98% of web hosting companies offer FTP access of some kind. Don't let them fool you with an 'FTP Manager' or something that is really just an internal page uploader. To have a true website you need to have external FTP access.

Recently, we had noticed that some of our customers FTP Upload on their links pages were failing. No one had changed the information so I decided to check the hosting company's website to see if they offer FTP. They did. Okay so if they offer FTP then something must be wrong with that users FTP.

I contacted support (while still surfing their help files) to ask why the FTP was failing. Below is a copy of the entire transcript.

I tried to explain to their staff the gravity of their decision and asked them if there was anyone I could talk to about our company providing it for their users. This might be a good source of new hosting customers for us. If your web host doesn't offer FTP access contact us today and we can provide you with legitimate business hosting.

This is a question we hear at least once per week here at Thalo Creative Studios. With the complexity of computers and the variety of browsers there are ways that your computer may be showing you a down website when everyone else sees the site is online. But how do you know if your site is down or if it is just you?...

Here is my nomination for most useful site of 2012! www.lmgtfy.com . This site is to help you respond to people that think that it is quicker to ask you a question than to go and look it up themselves. The site will produce a link that you can send to the person asking the question that basically shows how to go to Google, enter the search term and press 'Search'. Kind of a great sarcastic way of informing people about how to use Google. Try it out is is funny!

You may ask what a CMS is. CMS stands for Content Management System. Traditionally users are not able to edit their websites with out knowing how to work with html. So if they decide to try to edit it them selves there is a possibility of messing everything up. With out a CMS based website the client would have to go to the designer to have them make every little change. After the designer is done with the changes they send the client a bill for all the changes that were made. A CMS can completely eliminate this process.

S.O.W. is one of the most important acronyms in the web design industry. S.O.W means Scope of Work. It is usually the work that is to be completed in a contractual agreement. It gives a clear and defined outline of work that will be completed once the contract is signed and the payments are taken care of.

In the last quarter century the way we get information has drastically changed. In the 80s you had to go to the library to research something you wanted more information about. Or you had to find someone who had the information you needed. This is they way information has been passed along for centuries.
